Introduction

Over the night, the town takes stock of what has happened. A number of farmers have been killed, as well as several fighters and one of the monks that you met the previous day. Several outlying farms were burned to the ground, but fortunately all the buildings in town were saved in part thanks to the actions of the party.

Early in the morning, just as the sun rises, a man comes rushing into town delivering a message: he tracked one of the bands of orcs - and at least one ogre. There is a hidden entrance into a mountain where they have appeared to have retreated.

Meanwhile, Father Rodolfo says he must keep back to the Valhingen Church, to survey the damage. He can actually travel down river via boat, but says he would appreciate (but not require!) the party to accompany him as obviously things have gotten very dangerous and anything could happen, even during a one day trip.

Part 1 - Travel via Canal

The party sets forth from ArrowLodge, embarking on a journey southward along the river that has many locks and canals. They are accompanied by Father Rodolfo, who is traveling to Valhingen to assess the damage done to the church there. Mothy, who was one of the fighters from the previous day, has decided to join the party. He is a fighter, and has a very large sword. He is a bit of a loner, but is very good at fighting.

With several stops along the way, the journey will take roughly six hours to complete. As they venture further south, the river will converge with other waterways, leading them to new territories.

However, their expedition is quickly marred by the sight of Castle Vlag in flames, a victim of the same dragon that assaulted ArrowLodge. Though the sky is already overcast with the promise of rain, an eerie shadow seems to befall the land as they draw nearer to the scene of devastation.

Despite the danger that looms, the party continues to traverse the river, encountering quaint hamlets, mills, and trading posts. Though they must remain vigilant, they also find moments of respite and camaraderie amidst their perilous journey.

Part 2 - Water Elemental

As the party approaches a particular lock along the river, the current begins to pick up speed with each passing moment. To their dismay, they soon realize that the next lock in the series has been destroyed, creating a dangerous obstacle in their path.

As they navigate the treacherous waters, the party suddenly finds themselves ambushed by unknown assailants amidst the ruins of the broken lock.

Part 3 - Blink Dog Pack

Deciding to continue on foot from here, they are momentarily diverted by an attack from a pack of blink dogs. The party is able to fend off the attack without much trouble.
